Clearwater Beach’s status as one of America’s top-rated beaches is a powerful economic engine for our community.

Millions of annual visitors support local hotels, restaurants, transportation providers, attractions, and small businesses.

Yet this success also creates a growing challenge: litter and waste management both on and around the beach.

Without immediate and visible action, trash accumulation along the beach, shorelines, sidewalks, and public spaces could negatively impact tourism perception, online reviews, media coverage, and national beach rankings.

This initiative is designed to proactively protect one of our community’s most valuable assets through enhanced cleanliness efforts, public engagement, business partnerships, and environmental stewardship.

By supporting this project, sponsors and funding partners are helping preserve the image, economy, and long-term sustainability of Clearwater Beach for future generations.

Did you know Clearwater Beach receives over 15,000,000 visitors annually (2024 statistics)

Thats a whole lot of people and a potentially BIG litter problem.

In order to maintain our "Top USA Beach" ranking by many top travel magazines such as USA Today, Travel & Liesure and TripAdvisor, we need to insure Clearwater Beach USA is is consistently clean & pristine.

Over the past several weeks I have received many emails and IM's from our Facebook Group members regarding the increase in litter on our beautiful beach.

To say I was disturbed would be an understatement! So, as tgey say ...  ACTIONS speak louder than words!

If you love Clearwater Beach, we would sincerely appreciate your support.

Keeping the beautiful beach community of Clearwater Beach pristine is not an easy task.

While the city Clearwater does an exceptional job, it's a huge beach with thousands of daily visitors and the city has limited funds and resources available.

Stretching roughly three miles long and three city blocks wide, Clearwater Beach draws over 15 million visitors a annually that's a lot of people!

The Tampa Bay Times dubbed Clearwater Beach "the Disney World of beaches" one of the top tourist destinations along the Gulf Coast.

With thousands of visitors daily, depending on the season, keeping the beach and beach community litter free and clean is a BIG undertaking which for the most part is taken care of by the city of Clearwater.

As you can imagine taking care of a three mile long and three block wide area of pristine sugar sand is a tremendous effort.

However, its absolutely essential in order to maintain the ranking as one of the USA's top beach destinations by many international travel magazines and social media sites.

DISTURBING NEWS

I received a disturbing message from Jeanene Capone one of our founding Administrators & photographers for Clearwater Beach USA

August 8th, 2023

"I have to tell you when I first started walking, the litter south of pier 60 was soooo bad I honestly wanted to cry. I had never seen it look like that so I decided to stop walking past the pier because of it. And just recently it’s starting to make its way north of the pier but not as bad. Actually last weekend I joked with one of the cops and told him he should deputize me. I did pick up a few things but then I started thinking I didn’t have gloves and may not want to take the chance. When I go this weekend I’ll go south and see how it looks now. I was seeing food (apples, watermelon, limes and lemons in the water. Zip lock bags, water bottles and caps, aluminum cans, empty snack bags, etc. Very heartbreaking.  I will take note this weekend and let you know as well as send photos." (See below)

I have a serious question for you. Why do over 15 million people visit Clearwater Beach USA each year?

Simple, we have one of the most beautiful beaches and beach communities in the USA!

Thats what makes Clearwater Beach USA "America's favorite sugar sand beach and vacation destination".

But that could change in a heartbeat! Seriously!

I'm about to share some photos with you that I hope will shed some light on what is becoming a very sad and serious situation on "America's favorite sugar sand beach and vacation destination"!

Litter! Yes LITTER!

And not just a little trash here and there, but enough trash to fill up several trash bags just on North Beach which is the less populated side of Pier 60.

And I'm going to be very honest with you, it makes me mad as hell to know that visitors would leave trash on our beautiful sugar sand beach!

There is NO excuse for it when we have over 50 trash receptacles located on the beach!

My dad use to tell me when I was a younger lad, "son there are no problems, only solutions".

And he was right! Introducing the CWB Trash Trolley &
"Project Clean Beach".

Now, the City of Clearwater does its best to keep our beach and beach community clean. Unfortunately they only have so many resources and funds available to them at any given time.

So, it's now time to make sure our beautiful beach and community remains "America's favorite sugar sand beach and vacation destination".

We created CWB Trash Trolley with two specific goals in mind.

1) Ride along the shores ò South Beach and North Beach collected visitors trash and díposing it at a designated location of the beach.

2) Ensuring trash receptacles are emptied throughout the day

3) Promoting local businesses that sponsor our projects. We will use two golf carts (North Beach and South Beach) to collect trash and litter from visitor's on the beach. We will also insure that all beach recepticals ảe emptied hourly.

In addition we will help businesses promote themselves to visitor's daily using printed vinyl signs ưith a QR code. Thêse signs will be díplayed on the sides and rear ò each golf cart.  Sponsors will pay a weekly fee for advertising. Each golf cart will deplay two signs on each side and two on the back.

Myself and volunteers will drive along the shores of Clearwater Beach picking up trash from beach visitors

Our journey will be captured on video which we will then share on our NEW YouTube Channel, https://www.youtube.com/@ClearwaterBeachUSA.

We hope these videos will assist Clearwater Beach USA in recruiting volunteers (Beach Ambassadors) to assist with this daily clean up effort as well as receive grants.

The goal is to do this daily providing we have the resources needed. 

We simply cannot allow others to tarnish our beautiful beach reputation. I hope you agree with me. 

We also hope we can secure private donations, grants and major sponsors to help us fund this important operation now and in the future.
