Together "WE" can keep Clearwater Beach Clean and Pristine. Please support "Project Clean Beach"
On September 13th, 2023 exactly at sunset (7:37 pm) our Clearwater Beach USA FB Group hit the 70,000 member mark! Today, Feb 19,2025 we are close to 140,000 members.
Facebook Group ... Clearwater Beach USA
Now is the perfect time to officially launch "Project Clean Beach". I'm optimistic that our Facebook community can help us achieve our fund raising goals to help keep Clearwater Beach USA clean & pristine and always ranked one of the top beaches in the USA.
Over the past 60 days I have received many emails and IM's from our Facebook Group members regarding the increase in litter on our beautiful beach.
To say I was angry would be an understatement! So, ACTIONS speak louder than words!
If you love Clearwater Beach, we would sincerely appreciate your support.
Keeping the beautiful beach community of Clearwater Beach pristine is not an easy task. While the city Clearwater does an exceptional job, it's a huge beach and the city has limited funds and resources.
Stretching roughly three miles long and three blocks wide, Clearwater Beach draws over four million visitors a year, that's a lot of people!
The Tampa Bay Times dubbed Clearwater Beach "the Disney World of beaches" one of the top tourist destinations along the Gulf Coast.
With thousands of visitors daily, depending on the season, keeping the beach and beach community litter free and clean is a big undertaking, which for the most part is taken care of by the city of Clearwater.
As you can imagine taking care of a three mile long and three block wide area of pristine sugar sand is a tremendous effort. However, its absolutely essential in order to maintain the ranking as one of the USA's top beach destinations by many international travel magazines and social media sites.
I received a disturbing message below that I received from Jeanene, our moderator & photographer for Clearwater Beach USA
August 8th, 2023
"I have to tell you when I first started walking, the litter south of pier 60 was soooo bad I honestly wanted to cry. I had never seen it look like that so I decided to stop walking past the pier because of it. And just recently it’s starting to make its way north of the pier but not as bad. Actually last weekend I joked with one of the cops and told him he should deputize me. I did pick up a few things but then I started thinking I didn’t have gloves and may not want to take the chance. When I go this weekend I’ll go south and see how it looks now. I was seeing food (apples, watermelon, limes and lemons in the water. Zip lock bags, water bottles and caps, aluminum cans, empty snack bags, etc. Very heartbreaking. I will take note this weekend and let you know as well as send photos." (See below)
Together we can keep Clearwater Beach ranked as one of the top beaches in the USA!

THE PLAN (In Development)
UPDATED MARCH 13, 2025
Clearwater Beach is over three miles long and two blocks wide. It's a very large beach!
We will use volunteers to assist with removing debris and litter from the water and difficult areas to reach on a as needed basis.
The volunteers will receive a Bright YELLOW Clearwater Beach USA "Project Clean Beach" tshirt.
One group of volunteers will walk North toward Caladesi Island, and one group will walk South toward Opal Sands.
The safety and well being of our volunteers is a top priority. If any volunteer becomes fatigued or injured during the session, we will have a courtesy cart pick them up and take them to Life Guard Station #0 for treatment or the Pier 60 Hotel lobby to rest and rehydrate.
Each volunteer will receive two bright orange trash bags and liter pole/net to place trash into. Once the bag is full the volunteer will leave the bag on the beach for pickup by a crew member.
Our project mission is to pick up litter on the beach and in the water if necessary and safe to do so. The trip will be photographed and recorded as well for documentation and media coverage.
Parking for our volunteers will be provided courtesy of one of our sponsors. Bottled water, gatorade, iced tea, sunscreen and hand sanitizer will also be provided.
We will provide orange trash bags, long handled litter grabbers, gloves, water shoes, hand sanitizer and other needed equipment.
Upon completing the project the groups will return to Pier 60 and meet at Jimmy's Crows Nest (Pier 60 Hotel roof top) for complimentary snacks and beverages courtesy of various restaurants located on Clearwater Beach.
We are working with local restaurants, bars and other merchants to provide all volunteers wearing the "Project Clean Beach" shirt a discount on any purchases.
If you love Clearwater Beach and live nearby, please consider volunteering to be a "Project Clean Beach" Ambassador by clicking below.
If you're unable to volunteer, please consider donating to this worthy cause by visiting clearwaterbeachusa.info/project-clean-beach. Your donation will greatly assist us in funding this ongoing operation.
I cannot thank you enough for volunteering and donating to this worthwhile cause. It's imperative that we keep our little piece of paradise clean and pristine.

I have a serious question for you. Why do over 4 million people visit Clearwater Beach USA each year?
Simple, we have one of the most beautiful beaches and beach communities in the USA!
Thats what makes Clearwater Beach USA "America's favorite sugar sand beach and vacation destination".
But that could change in a heartbeat! Seriously!
I'm about to share some videos with you that I hope will shed some light on what is becoming a very sad and serious situation on "America's favorite sugar sand beach and vacation destination"!
Litter! Yes LITTER!
And not just a little trash here and there, but enough trash to fill up several five gallon buckets just on North Beach which is the less populated side of Pier 60.
And I'm going to be very honest with you, it makes me mad as hell to know that visitors would leave trash on our beautiful sugar sand beach! There is NO excuse for it when we have over 50 trash receptacles located on the beach!
But, as my dad use to tell me when I was a younger lad, "son there are no problems, only solutions".
And he was right! Introducing .....
"Project Clean Beach".
Now, the City of Clearwater does its best to keep our beach and beach community clean. Unfortunately they only have so many resources and funds available to them at any given time.
So, it's now time to make sure our beautiful beach and community remains "America's favorite sugar sand beach and vacation destination".
Myself and volunteers will walk Clearwater Beach and pick up trash left by individuals that simply didn't give a damn!
Our journey will be captured on video which we will then share on our NEW YouTube Channel, https://www.youtube.com/@ClearwaterBeachUSA.
We hope these videos will assist Clearwater Beach USA in recruiting volunteers (Beach Ambassadors) to assist with this clean up effort each weekend
The goal is to do this several times a week providing we have the resources needed.
We simply cannot allow others to tarnish our beautiful beach reputation. I hope you agree with me.
We also hope we can secure private donations, grants and major sponsors to help us fund this important operation now and in the future.
